The thought of getting pregnant after miscarriage can be quite daunting, as many women are afraid of a second miscarriage. A miscarriage, referred to by doctors as a spontaneous abortion, is the loss of a pregnancy before around twenty weeks. It is believed (according to the American Society of Reproductive Medicine) that as many as twenty five percent of known pregnancies will miscarry. This rate will most likely be higher in actuality because miscarriages can happen before a woman is even aware she is pregnant.
What causes a woman to miscarry is still not completely clear. Miscarriages that occur in the first twelve weeks of a pregnancy are believed to be the result of a random occurrence of chromosomal abnormalities present in the foetus, and this inhibits its normal development and causes a miscarriage.
The health and well-being of the mother can also play a part. Medical conditions like un-tended diabetes or structural problems in the woman’s uterus which result in an improper egg implantation can affect a miscarriage, as can a number of autoimmune conditions in the mother. There are also lifestyle factors, like smoking or drug abuse by the mother which can increase the chances of miscarrying. There are also a large number of miscarriages which are the result of the egg not being implanted in the uterus correctly – thankfully this can be corrected by knowing the most appropriate times of the month for successful conception, but more on that later.
There are a number of signs that may precede a miscarriage including lower back pain and cramps in the abdomen and pelvis as well as fluid or tissue and blood coming from the vagina. Bleeding usually precedes all early miscarriages, however many pregnant women experience blood spotting and some bleeding in early pregnancy, so it is not always a sign of miscarriage.
The vast majority of miscarriage in early pregnancy will not need medical attention because the uterus expels its contents as if it was a heavy menstrual period. In cases where tissue remains inside and shows up on an ultrasound, then a cleansing procedure, or medication may be required to make sure all the residual tissue is expelled. This is an important step if tissue remains inside, as infections may set in if nothing is done. Getting pregnant after miscarriage is not advised for at least a good couple of months. If recurring miscarriages are a problem, then there are tests that can be done to see if they can determine the cause.
It is important before going out and getting any of these (sometimes painful) tests, that you make sure that the improper implantation of the egg into the uterine lining is not the cause. The likelihood of this can be reduces significantly by trying for a baby at the appropriate monthly times.
This time is when there is a cervical fluid which has the resemblance of eggwhites, which is the woman’s most fertile time of the month. When the man has a normal sperm count, then the couple should have intercourse every day of the eggwhite cervical fluid and should only cease once a rise in basal temperature is noticed in the woman. For men who’s sperm count is low, then intercourse should only be done on every second day until the rise in temperature. This will not only increase the chances of conception, but will also decrease the likelihood of miscarriage caused from improper implantation of the ovum in the uterine lining.
Pre-conception is a crucial time for getting healthy. This means that diet, weight and exercise are all important to maintain before conception takes place. Quitting cigarettes and not being around other people’s smoke is also important. Caffeine should not be ingested, and alcohol is a definite no-go. Awareness of your external environment and any toxins you may be exposed to are also important – painting the house is out, unless ‘green’ paints are used, and carpeting should be avoided, as new carpets are often laced with formaldehyde. Importantly for getting pregnant after miscarriage, you have to remember to look at lifestyle factors like stress and emotional worries, and try to have intercourse at the appropriate time of the month.

The late Dr. Landrum Shettles a renowned expert on baby gender prediction methods developed, after years of research, a gender selection method that he felt was “best supported by scientific evidence”.
Dr Shettles wrote a best selling book called How To Choose The Sex Of Your Baby, you’ll find a link at my site. He claimed a 75%-90% success rate using his techniques. There have been a few ebooks authored (also at my site) that claim an even higher success rate of up to 98%. These ebooks utilize Dr Shettles methods as well as other baby gender prediction methods to achieve this amazing success rate!
The Shettles method is based on the fact that it’s the man’s sperm that determines whether a baby is a female or male. This is because the woman’s egg carries only the (x) or (girl) chromosome, and the man’s sperm comes in two varieties, one carrying the (x) or girl sperm (which results in a girl baby) and the (y) or boy sperm (that results in a boy baby.) Dr Shettles also realized that the girl sperm was physically larger, stronger (longer lived), and a slower swimmer (slower to reach the egg.) The boy sperm is smaller, more fragile (dies off quicker), and is a much faster swimmer (will win the race to fertilize the egg most of the time.)
The doctor also realized that timing of intercourse, and the depth of penetration during conceptual intercourse could help to determine if the resulting baby was a boy or girl. The mother-to-be will have to track her day of ovulation precisely in order to time conceptual intercourse precisely as well.
If a boy baby is desired abstain from sex until the day before ovulation, and abstain again the second day after ovulation. Also when trying to conceive a boy sexual positions that allow deep penetration are best (”doggie style” or missionary position with the woman’s legs extended up towards her head.) Why is this? Because of the differences in the two sperm. This timing, and deep penetration allows the fast swimming boy sperm to win the race to the fresh waiting egg, resulting in the boy baby you want.
If a girl baby is desired, the couple should have sex practicing only shallow penetration, and abstain from sex for a couple of days before ovulation and until a couple of days after ovulation. Here again this gives the short lived boy sperm to much time and distance to survive and allows the slow but longer lived girl sperm a time and distance advantage, and assures (hopefully) conceiving a girl baby.
Dr Shettles determined that vaginal acidity also plays a role in which sperm succeeds in fertilizing the egg. He found that a lower ph (higher acidity) favored the girl sperm and a higher ph (lower acidity) favored the survival of the boy sperm.
Although these are pretty simple concepts, you will find a guide to be indispensable! There are three ebooks offered online that will take you step by step through the entire process, and if followed diligently tip the odds of success from about 50/50 to well over 90%!

If you are experiencing a problem getting pregnant, then understanding the intricacies of what it takes to achieve a fertilised egg is of prime importance.
At the time of ovulation, the fallopian tube will pick up the new egg after it burst out of the ovarian wall. It is only a matter of seconds after the egg is released from the ovarian wall that the fimbria, or the tip of the fallopian tube will pick the egg up and draw it into the tube properly. If an egg remains unfertilised it can live for up to twenty four hours, and after dying it will be absorbed by the body or it will disintegrate and come out with the menses. To put it in perspective, the size of the egg is about as big as a full stop – like this one.
If on the other hand an egg does get fertilised it happens within a couple of hours after ovulation, and will happen while the egg is in the fallopian tube. Fertilisiation does not take place in the uterus, contrary to the widely held misconception that it does. The whole journey of the sperm to the egg in the fallopian tubes can take a good number of hours. There are cilia, or tiny hairs which line the fallopian tube, and when an egg has been fertilised, these vibrate and draw the egg further inside. The fertilised ovum will reach its final destination and begin to burrow into the nutritious lining of the uterus after about one week of ‘travelling’ to reach there.
For couples who are having aproblem getting pregnant there is a crucial point to understand and that is that a fertilised egg requires three things: the egg (of course) and the sperm, and the very special medium which will allow the sperm and egg to traverse the hostile vaginal atmosphere in safety.
This medium which affords safe passage to the sperm and egg is an eggwhite-like cervical fluid which is especially fertile. It is this cervical fluid which will allows the sperm to travel to the cervix in safety and unite with the waiting egg. This amazing fertile mucus is produced with rising levels of oestrogen in the first part of the cycle, and is at its best at the time of ovulation. In this type of cervical fluid, sperm can survive inside for up to five days – so it is entirely possible to have intercourse at the beginning of the week, and not become pregnant till the end of the week!
Once pregnant, the body begins its amazing process – it would be a disaster for the lining of the uterus to start to disintegrate as it normally does in the menstrual cycle, so a pregnant body will actually start to protect itself to prevent this disintegrating from occurring as it normally would. When a fertilised egg burrows into the lining of the uterus, the body starts producing a hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) which prevents this from happening. The message this hormone sends is to the lining itself (the corpus luteum) and it simple tells it to stay alive. The corpus luteum will continue to maintain itself for a couple of months till the placenta is ready to take over and the placenta will then maintain the lining as well as provide oxygen and nourishment to the growing foetus.
False-negative pregnancy tests are usually received if the test has been done too soon, because the whole process can take a while, and the test is measuring HCG, so if it hasn’t been produced yet, the test will come back negative even if an egg is fertilised. When women chart their cycles, they are more likely to know when a pregnancy has occurred from the first point of implantation because of the notable changes in the cycle.
When couples are having a problem getting pregnant it really is vital that they fully understand the process involved in getting pregnant, because unlike what our mums tell us as youths, for some getting pregnant is not that easy.

If you are wanting to find out the best time to conceive, then you have to know about the fertile times in a woman’s cycle – which is a fairly complex time to pinpoint. Firstly when an egg is released it will only live a short time, a maximum of 24 hours and if two eggs are released in one ovulation cycle then that means only around two fertile days in a month. From the man’s side his sperm can survive inside for around five days so coupled with the woman this means around a week of fertility in a month. For the best indicator of a woman’s fertile time one needs to check the quality of cervical fluid – when it is an eggwhite consistency this is the fertile period, but it may only be there for a couple of days.
There are lots of women who think they conceived a child during a period, despite this being a next to impossible thing to do. There are occasions when one may become pregnant from intercourse during the end of her period, but this is quite rare. It is possible if the woman’s cycle is very short, and the sperm live long enough to fertilise the ovum. The more common case is when a woman mistakes blood spotting during ovulation as a period and get pregnant at this time. This is a reminder of how important it is to really know and understand you cycle and the functioning of your body.
The most common way which doctors prescribe for finding the best time to conceive is by charting changes in the body’s basal temperature. This is sadly to the exclusion of the most important (and most accurate) determinant of fertility, and that is cervical fluid. Moreover using the basal method for fertile timings can actually impede efforts at conception, because by the time a change in temperature is record it’s too late and the egg has died. Basal temperature measuring is a part of knowing your body and is useful in getting pregnant, but it is not a measure of fertile times, and this is not acknowledged enough by doctors.
The most accurate way of finding your fertile window is by charting the changes in cervical fluid. When there is cervical fluid which has the look and consistency of eggwhites, this is the indicator of the fertile time. The eggwhite fluid tells you that you are ovulating, but some women have trouble determining what to look for, so another indicator is the wettest type of fluid, of a wet sensation. The best time to conceive is the last day that there is the eggwhite mucus present.
For couples where the man has a normal sperm count then when the wet fertile fluid comes it is the time to start having intercourse (daily) up until you see a rise in the basal temperature which indicated that the fertile time is actually over. Men with low sperm counts must only have sex every second day during this time, and stop on the morning the basal temperature rises.
Prior to keeping a record of the cervical fluid, you must know what it is you are looking for as the cervical mucus changes greatly in colour, consistency as well as volume. By noting these changes you can really improve the chances of conceiving quickly.
Ovulation is the best time to conceive, and this is the time of the month when there is a high volume of cervical fluid. The mucus that comes with ovulation (as noted already) is eggwhite mucus which is very fertile stuff, and prime baby making material!
If you want an accurate measure of where you are in your cycle, then noting the changes in cervical mucus can help a lot. Over a couple of months you will get a very good idea of the time you ovulate, and unlike with basal temperature methods, this way there will be enough time to actually take advantage of the fertile window.

Magazines have been writing a lot about fertility and the incontrovertible fact that more and more women are choosing to start a family in their 30’s or forty’s. Ladies nowadays are highly likely to have a high flying career and be considering city trips, shoe shopping and sports cars, and a lot less about Mothercare, changing diapers, and pushing buggies.
The average age for giving birth in the UK is going up about two months every year. The average age in 2007 was 29.3 years compared with 28.6 years in 2001. Statistics show that the average lady under thirty will get pregnant within the first 6 months and those in their early thirty’s may take up to and longer than nine months. From 35 onwards it might take one year.
Some ladies are spending a large amount of money trying to increase their chances of conceiving naturally, but this may be a nonessential cost. Lord Robert Winston, pioneer of IVF treatment, said to the Daily Mail that ladies who freeze their eggs to delay parenthood are being given false hopes by fertility hospitals. He is going on to assert that this does not in any way guarantee a girls will become pregnant or go on to have a healthy baby.
So without ditching the thrilling lifestyle what can you do to help turbo-charge your wellbeing for that ‘maybe baby’ stage? Being healthy is far easier than you might think. Here are a few tips
For her :
Iron
Most ladies recognize iron as a vital mineral for good health. In spite of this data, iron deficiency is regarded the commonest nutritive deficiency and the most influenced group are ladies of child bearing age. Studies have shown that even delicate inadequacies of iron are linked to reduced fertility. It would seem that a deficiency of iron may play a role in ovulatory dysfunction. Take daily Iron additions ( look for non-constipating form )
Essential trans acids
The force on girls to remain slim has lead to many women adopting very low fat diets. Unfortunately, this pattern of eating is related to a decline in fertility. The necessary trans-acids ( found in nuts, seeds and oily fish ) have many functions throughout the body, including balancing the hormones concerned in fertility. Try Omega 3-6-9 capsules with a mix of prime quality fish, flax and borage oil.
Multivitamin and mineral formula
A multivitamin and mineral formula has for some time been regarded as a measure for general wellness and as health insurance. Studies now suggest that a multivitamin formula may also be beneficial for maintaining fertility in ladies. Studies in the latter 90s proved that girls who frequently took a multivitamin formula, were less sure to be infertile due to ovulatory failure than those who did not. Similarly, the more frequent and regular the supplements were taken, the better the results .
Try Solgar’s Female Multivitamin & Mineral complex
Vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 ( sometimes called the sunshine vitamin ) could augment the fertility of girls afflicted with ovulation Problems. One in 5 women suffer with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome ( PCOS ) and can have a lesser chance of conception at a later age. Researchers at Yale school college of medication ( 2008 ) concluded ladies with ovulation problems or PCOS were much more sure to be low in vitamin D.
Try 1000iu D3 supplement
For him :
Your better half should be thinking along the same lines as you when it comes to living healthily. Sperm count and motility plays a particularly significant part in the act of making an attempt to become pregnant. Why do all of the hard work when your other half plays an equal part in the middle of conception? current figures ( from Norwich Union Healthcare in 2005 ) show that 2.5 million men suffer from sterility in the UK. Male infertility may account for as much as a 3rd of Problems with conception so it is important that your man takes similar steps to you to keep himself and his sperm in tip top health.
Zinc
Zinc is clearly one of the most vital nutrients needed for fertility, particularly for men. Studies show that a low zinc intake corresponds with a low sperm count and poor sperm motility.
Vitamin C
As an antioxidant, vitamin C is essential for good health. For men, this nutrient plays a particular role in augmenting fertility. Research has shown that vitamin C may help to reduce the clumping together of sperm and thus reinforces sperm motility. Additionally, vitamin C usually reinforces sperm quality and protects the DNA contained within it from damage.

If you are only starting, you may want it for the relief it’ll give you from engorgement. If you have been nursing your baby for a while, you can use it to bring your milk supply up.
When starting out on the pump you’ll want to go slow. Just like getting sore as you begin to breast-feed your new baby, a pump can have the same affect. You will want to choose a setting on your machine that is light till you are sure that you can handle it. If using a manual pump it is straightforward to go slowly. An electrical pump is rather more likely to have a stronger suction ; it should have one or two speed choices as well as suction selections.
You’ll have one or two different sizes to make a choice from so that you can achieve the best suction. All sides of pumping is going to take 10 to fifteen mins. If you choose a dual sided pump, you can cut this time in half. Do not rush this process. Pick a quiet place that you can relax. You will want to be as comfortable as possible.

Research has shown that a young baby can start to distinguish between night and day from as young as two weeks with a little gentle guidance. Here are six simple strategies that work.
1 – During the day, get your baby outside as much as possible for a healthy dose of daylight. If he’s sleeping, the feel of fresh air on his skin will stimulate him. When indoors, keep the house bright and draw back the curtains. Turn the lights on if it’s winter. All of this will start to regulate his body clock.
2 – For the brief times that your baby is awake, offer him lots of cuddles, touch his skin and talk to him. This will be enough stimulation for him at such a young age.
3 – Teach your baby that night is different from day by feeding him in a dimly lit room using a nightlight. Keep your voice low and only change his nappy if it’s dirty or soaking. Where the day is light and bright, night time feeds should be dark and quiet.
4 – Introduce sleep cues through short routines so that your baby knows it’s time to sleep. In the early days, this won’t mean much to your baby. But after a few months, he will understand that you are following the ‘pre-sleep’ routine and this will help him to settle easily.
A simple pre-bedtime routine might be a bath or wash, a sleepsuit, sleeping bag, cuddle, feed and bed. For nap time, a little face wash, nappy change, sleeping bag and feed will let your baby know he’s going for a sleep.
5 – Sleep props help your baby know it’s sleep time. The sound of the sea or a heartbeat works because the rhythmical sound is familiar after the sound of the womb. Total silence can be alarming for babies.
Introduce a baby comforter toy or lovey from an early age by holding it between you when feeding. Later this will become an important sleep cue for your baby as he learns to self settle without your help. You shouldn’t leave your baby alone with the comforter until he is fully mobile and you’re sure it’s safe.
Interestingly, studies have shown that babies who sleep with loveys and comforter toys are able to self soothe much better than those who don’t.
Baby sleeping bags are useful as part of the bedtime routine and will also stop your baby waking with the cold at night.
6 – Give your baby a safe place to sleep. A first your baby will fall asleep whenever he’s tired, no matter where he is. But soon he will need a place to nap and sleep at night that is consistent and helps him to get the rest he needs.
But you should decide on where you want him to sleep at night and during the day as early as possible and start putting him down to sleep there so that it becomes a familiar, safe place for him. It doesn’t have to be every sleep time at first. But gradually get him used to falling asleep in the same place every night and nap time.
Setting up good habits from the start will be much easier now than later on.

People use photography as a way to remember all the past events of their life. The change from one grade to the next, graduating from high school or college, marrying that special someone, when you bought your first house, or just as a way to mark the everyday events of life. It doesn’t matter whether the events themselves are important or life changing or not.
What matters is that pictures serve as a landmark of the years gone by. The most life changing of which happens to be the introduction of a baby. Baby photography is an every growing market and the subjects of them are the most popular in the world. The thing about it is that most babies don’t care how cute they are, or why their face has to be sent out on all the Christmas cards.
They move, they fight, they cry, and if they’re very upset, they poop. As a result baby photography takes not only a lot of patience, but a lot of skill. However, even if you’re not a professional you should be able to take some very good photos by taking in these few simple suggestions. The first thing is to avoid using the flash on your camera.
Not only is the bright, glaring, artificial light unflattering, it’s unnecessary and it also causes red eye in the final photograph. Natural light is best, which means that you have the choice to move closer to a window or go outside in order to take a picture then do so because it’s worth it. If you can’t though, most cameras have a red eye reduction function that you can use for the best baby photography possible.
If your camera doesn’t have one, there is software available that will take care of the problem for you. Another thing to watch out for is blurring. Like I said earlier, most babies don’t like sitting still for pictures and as a result most of them come out looking blurry. Now you can take pictures of your baby acting naturally with the help of a high iso speed camera and big aperture.
The two combined let freeze moments that may not look like much at first, but turn out to be amazing in the split second it took you to snap the picture. Also watch out for your background. Oftentimes people will allow a lot of colors and props around the baby because they think it makes the picture. The truth is that most babies are cute enough that they don’t need so much going on in the photograph, and even if they aren’t the background should still be kept as simple as possible.
Speaking of effects, you can try some very simple things to make the baby picture fascinating and unique. Instead of using the baby as the main focus, you can instead pay more attention to the toys, foods, blankets, and etc that make up the baby’s everyday life.
Another interesting thing hat can be done is taking a photo of the baby while they are doing one of the many strange poses or facial expressions that they are famous for. Or bring in the use of mirrors and blurred backgrounds, both of which work very well in highlighting a baby’s possible worldview.

Whether you are the ones taking them or the ones having them taken, there are some things that one should remember when it comes to maternity photography. You want them to be a reminder of the joy it was though it was not easy to carry that bundle of joy in your womb. The time when that baby was formed and you nurtured it while it was in you is something that created a bond. Here is how to make sure you show how loved your child was when they are older.
To start out with, there are a few places that one should consider having their pictures taken once they choose a maternity photographer. One of those places is outside. Artists depict child birth as a part of nature. When you take your maternity shoot to nature you become one with nature. Now, how cool is that?
The other place that your child will become one with when they are born is the home. This is your natural surrounding and there is not anything that says I cannot wait until you are here than having your photos taken at home. These after all will be their first pictures.
When you take this picture or have it taken, dress up lady. You deserve to look great and childbirth adds to it. Be proud of who you are and what you look like. Flaunt it for the camera. This is your shoot to show that baby when he or she is born that you are darn proud to be the mom. You are doing the hard work after all.
You cannot forget to show dad in these. The greatest pictures are connecting the tummy as it is protruding in the center focal point while the couple is romantically intertwined. It says you were not a mistake, we love you each other just as much as we love you. It is love in all its beauty.
This might not be your first one. It could be your second or third one. So include the family. Sometimes it is even cute to include the animals as well. They should be a part of this joyous occasion too. This is just one other idea that is somewhat new actually.
Show different angles. Now, ladies I know you are saying that is torture. You think you are big. You think you are ugly and you wonder why anyone would want to see that. You got curves for a reason. You did not overeat. You did not just poof and gain weight. You are carrying a lovely bundle of joy and show the curves and the poundage off.
When these are being taken it should be simple. It should focus on the not yet born child and the love that surrounds it. Therefore you do not want too much scenery to show. It should be right there and in the center of it all.
These photos will be treasured as your child gets older. You do not want to forget them days. They pass by so quickly and before you know it they are on their own. Get something that can help you to remember that great feeling you had as you carried them into this world. The news is so great to hear. Now, share it with others as you allow them to see the great feelings you have as you prepare for your child.
